One Sentance Starters

  • Jon Wendell - is a genius. Literally. His IQ is pretty far above the genius mark. He devours any books he can get his hands on and believes that you can never learn too much. Because of this, he can't identify with any of the kids his age. He doesn't understand the intellectual reason that one would want to hang out, so he figures that it must be a waste of time. Whenever he talks, it's usually with long, complicated words that most people wouldn't understand. If you talk to him, he'll talk back, but you wouldn't get what he said. He's approachable but his reputation keeps people away. Jon will give anything to learn more and to possibly learn how to get friends. He's possibly gay or bisexual.
  • Florence Carson. An upbeat and friendly assassin, never a suspect because of her pure kindness. Kills quickly and painlessly, and puts a tarp under her victims to minimize the cleanup needed. She also leaves a note on the door notifying anyone that there is a corpse inside, to minimize the shock.Very popular. In her spare time, she rather likes to chill in libraries. One of her goals is to collect a library card from every library in the world. So far, she has 2,500, all of which she carries with her at all times. Her favourite colour is magenta, which she often wears, giving her the nickname "The pink ninja". She has long, blonde hair, and has an overall delicate appearance- thin and frail, as though a strong breeze would snap her in half. She's suffered a lot of medical problems throughout her life, and it shows.

Characters

  • Susan (Sue) Baxter nee O'Neill. The corporate wife. Early forties. Tall, slender, blonde, blue eyed. Very particular about her clothing, hair, makeup, etc. Always elegant and concerned about appearances. Lives through her husband's career and her children's accomplishments. Conservative in all matters. Resistant to change. Somewhat judgemental of those who don't conform to her world view. Still she finds herself strangely intrigued by eccentric personalities.Ironically, her childhood was the opposite of her current life. Her parents were artists who traveled the world, never staying anywhere for long. This lack of stability had a negative affect on her and, in her early adulthood, she was driven to create that stability with an intense loyalty to friends and also by marrying her first boyfriend. Fortunately (?), her choice was exactly the type of man who would provide her "ideal" life.Married life went smoothly for Sue until her children reached their teenage years and begin to rebel against her restrictions.

Creating a Journal

If you haven't already started a journal, there is no better time than now. Artists of all kinds use them, and that includes writers as well.

Some people work their way through journals monthly, others take years. You can fill it up with whatever you like: personal thoughts, ideas, prompts, pictures, poems, inspirational quotes, names, characters, anything.

I prefer journals with rings, simply because they're easier to work with. Keep your journal with you at all times, if possible. You never know when some random piece of inspiration will pass your way.

What I'm Reading...

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Danica Shardae is an avian shapeshifter. She is a princess of her people who, like the birds they become, is reserved and disciplined, yet full of passion. Her people have been at war with the serpiente, a people who shapeshift into serpent forms, for so many years that no one remembers how it all started. The hatred and bloodshed have taken a heavy toll on both sides, and Danica and Zane Cobriana, a prince among the serpiente, are determined to stop it, at any cost. He is the last of his line as is Danica and so he proposes that the avian and serpiente royalty meet at a neutral place and seek mediation to end the war. The mediator proposal-that Danica and Zane marry-is so crazy and repugnant a plan that both parties leave immediately. The young people, however, consider it in spite of the apparent lunacy, for it would mean an end to the fighting. But can they pull it off?

The Beginning

Ever wonder how to gain inspiration for your writing, get your writing critiqued and become a better writer?

While picking through writing prompt and inspiration website, I found a sad lack of real ideas being generated- for me at least.

I'm one of those people who need inspiration to smack me in the face, not just answering questions.

There's so much I can do with this blog, but I'm going to start slowly and build my way there. Hopefully it will help you as much as I hope it will help me.
